He can finish ninth, he can interprete the warning in the wrong way and exceed in an administrative caution that costs him the podium, but it’s a pleasure to watch a rider like him. From seventeenth, after the first corner, to first with internal and external overtakes and the new record lap in the race (2’05.403). A real shame for the misunderstanding.
Tony started very well, being with the first riders immediately and staying there for some laps but, when the tires started to wear out, he lost positions and is out from the point zone. A shame as the rider from Garbagnate Milanese is fast, really fast.
Here are the riders’ comments:
Romano Fenati: “It really was an intense race, today the bike was perfect, I wouldn’t have changed it with any other bike and this means that we worked really well. Few laps to the end, when I was fighting for the podium, I saw “track limit” on the dashboard and it was not clear if it was only a warning or a penalty. I did wrong and I served a penalty that did not exist. We take experience from that and we leave Qatar happy. With a better strategy and more attention, in Argentina we’ll fight again”.
Tony Arbolino: “It was a difficult weekend as we suffered in different conditions. In the race we started really well and, with new tires, the grip was good and I could stay ahead. I tried to save as I knew I would have suffered the drop of the tires and that it was. Now, we have to work more with used tires and prepare the set up of the bike according to this”.
