In the wonderful track of Portimao, Quartararo and Acosta win again respectively in MotoGP and Moto3 while the rookie Fernandez obtains an incredible victory in Moto2. The young riders of Honda Team Asia arrive close to the points. Both improved their best practice times in the race, but it was not enough to score points in Portugal.
MIVV and Honda are working to improve the performance of the Asian riders.
Yuki Kunii #92: P24
“During all the weekend, I’ve been struggling to find the correct feeling. But when I’ve found it, the lap time hasn’t come. I’ve many problems in my riding, I make many mistakes, and I should improve it. Today, I hadn’t the pace, and I made the same mistakes as last year, mainly when stopping the bike. Riding with fast riders, I can stay there, following them. Riding over my limit and taking risks to follow them, I can be fast. I should do it always, starting from the practices in Jerez.”
Andi Farid Izdihar #19: P26
“I felt a big improvement of my performance and my feeling on the bike from Qatar race. Now I understand the bike much more.
This weekend was not so good but not so bad for me. Because the result is my best result of the season, but I can fight for the Top 15, scoring some points. I will keep continuing working for the next race in Jerez.”
Hiroshi Aoyama – Team Manager
“It’s a disappointing day for us. Our riders have been fighting to score points. They were so close, but again they missed it. We were expecting more of Yuki, but he couldn’t manage it. About Andi, he showed us that he’s making some progression from Qatar. He’s on the right way. We hope they will do another step in Jerez to score some positive result.”
